4 Months, 1 Hotel: An Honest Review From a Long-Term Guest
Finding a Home Away From Home
Most hotel reviews are written after a night or two.
This one isn't.
For the past 4 months, this hotel hasn't just been a place I've stayed—it has been my home.
And honestly, that alone says everything about how much I enjoyed it.
I've worked here, eaten here, and lived through ordinary days here. Long enough to see beyond first impressions and notice what makes this place different.
I first came to Rwanda in April, 2025—it was a short visit, too short. So I came back in 2026. And somehow, I’m still here in Kigali, slowly trying to make it feel like a second home.
I found this place through a friend who had stayed here before me. It’s not right in the center, which I actually loved—it meant I was comfortably tucked away from the city’s noise.
Location and Getting Around: 5/5
Yet at the same time, it's surprisingly convenient. Within about 20 minutes on a moto taxi, you can reach almost anywhere in Kigali.
Most of the time, I get around by moto taxi. Honestly, it's one of my favorite things about living here. Riding through different parts of the city, feeling the fresh air, and watching daily life unfold around you is incredibly refreshing.
If you've traveled around East Africa before, you'll probably notice the difference right away. The roads are excellent, the city is clean, and the rides feel remarkably smooth. What starts as a simple way to get from A to B often becomes part of the experience itself.
Amenities: 4/5
Let's set expectations right away: there's no gym, no swimming pool, and no luxury facilities.
But honestly, I never felt like I was missing much.
The rooms are spacious, filled with natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows, and every room comes with a small balcony. They're simple rather than fancy, but after living here for four months, I came to appreciate the practicality more than the extras.
And every room comes with a full-length dressing mirror.
Trust me, you'll want to use it. If you spend enough time in Rwanda, one thing you'll quickly notice is how well-presented people are. Whether they're heading to work, meeting friends, or simply going about their day, many Rwandans take pride in their appearance.
After a while, you may find yourself doing the same. Consider the mirror a gentle reminder to check your outfit before heading out the door.
Simple, practical and thoughtful. Everything you need, nothing you don't.
Working From Here: 5/5
As someone who works remotely, a reliable internet connection isn't a luxury—it's a necessity.
Thankfully, the WiFi here has been consistently fast and stable throughout my stay. Whether I was streaming videos, joining zoom calls, uploading content, or handling everyday online tasks, I rarely had any issues.
What I particularly appreciate is that the WiFi covers the entire property. On some days, I'd work from my room. On others, I'd take my laptop to the restaurant, the garden, the conference room, or even the rooftop lounge.
But what makes this place truly special isn't just the internet. It's the atmosphere.
Because the hotel is tucked away from the city's hustle and bustle, you don't have to deal with constant traffic noise, crowds, or distractions. You can simply find a quiet corner, settle in, and focus.
Whether you're trying to get work done, read a book, watch a movie, or just enjoy a peaceful afternoon, it's remarkably easy to slip into a state of flow here.
Dining During My Stay: 4/5
One thing I appreciated during my stay was the convenience of having an on-site restaurant. When you're staying somewhere for a few days, food may not matter much. But when you stay somewhere for weeks—or even months—it becomes part of your daily routine.
Over time, I found myself returning to a handful of favorites: beef steak, egg sandwiches, spaghetti bolognese, fish curry, fried rice, and African tea. They became my go-to meals whenever I didn't feel like heading into the city.
The menu isn't trying to be fancy or overly ambitious. Instead, it focuses on simple, satisfying meals that are consistently prepared and reasonably priced.
Another convenience I really appreciated was room service. On days when I was buried in work—or simply too lazy to leave the room 🤣—I could just scan the QR code menu in my room or call the restaurant directly, and my meal would be delivered a few minutes later.
I'll admit that after two months, I started feeling a little bored of ordering the same dishes. But to be fair, that's probably more a consequence of staying for three months than a reflection of the food itself. 🤣
Staff & Service: 5/5
What really made the difference for me, though, was the people.
This is a relatively small hotel, and over time, I got to know almost all the staff members. What stood out wasn't perfect service or luxury-level attention—it was something much more genuine.
There was a sincerity to the way they interacted with guests. The greetings didn't feel scripted. The conversations didn't feel forced. You got the sense that they genuinely cared about making your stay comfortable.
After three months, a place inevitably starts to feel less like a hotel and more like a temporary home. The people here played a big role in creating that feeling.
Who Is This Place For?
I think this place is particularly well-suited for:
Digital nomads who need quiet space to focus and get creative.
Business travelers visit Kigali for conference and need to work remotely.
Visitors who value peace and quiet over being in the city center
Travelers looking for good value without sacrificing comfort
It's not just travelers who enjoy this place. Many locals come here as well for private events, business meetups, birthday parties, celebrations, and weekend get-togethers. Seeing locals choose to spend their time here says a lot about the atmosphere the hotel has created.
On the other hand, if you're looking for luxury amenities, nightlife right outside your door, or a highly social hostel atmosphere, this may not be the best fit.
This place shines because of its simplicity, comfort, and relaxed atmosphere.
Final Thoughts
You may not believe this, but I stayed here for 4 months.
In many ways, that's probably the strongest endorsement I can give.
It's not the fanciest hotel in Kigali. It's not the most luxurious. But it offers something I value more: comfort, consistency, good people, a peaceful environment, and a place where I could comfortably work, live, and settle into a routine.
If you're looking for a quiet stay, reliable Wi-Fi, friendly service, and excellent value for money, I think this place is well worth considering.
After all, I came for a few days. And somehow, I ended up staying for 4 months. 😊
